When creating a frame image for your supporters on Facebook, you'll want to make sure your file is the following:

  • Square image that's 1000 by 1000 pixels
  • Saved as a .PNG file
  • Saved with a transparent background

But sometimes, even uploading the perfect frame image, leads to fuzzy results on Facebook. Why is that?

Turns out it has a lot to do with the size of your supporters current profile image. The closer their image is to 1000 by 1000 pixels the better. But the further we move from this size, the worse things get.

The worst results can be seen on profile images that are 300 by 300 pixels or smaller. (The smallest profile image Facebook allows to be uploaded is 180 by 180 pixels.) This will be most visible when their new profile image is shared to their news feed with all their friends.

Folks can fix this is by uploading a larger Facebook profile image first, then applying the new overlay image.
